Winsford Hill

The layout features a two track main line alongside a rail served stone quarry. It is loosely based on the Windsor Hill tunnel section of the Somerset & Dorset line featuring the unusual separated tunnels.

There is regular passing traffic on the main lines, whilst wagons are shunted / loaded and dispatched from the quarry. The layout is designed to be non region / time specific, therefore with minimal changes to vehicles, the layout can be run in pre WWII big four, BR steam, through BR diesel right up to the current modern image period.

During an exhibition we often change half way through the day, providing interest for those coming back for a second look. The baseboards are constructed from plywood, giving a light but rigid structure. Visible track work used Peco code 55 finescale track.

Quarry buildings are a mixture of kit bashing and scratch built whilst general scenics are sourced from the Woodland range.
