A History of Marshmoor
Marshmoor was first built in1993 to a size of 46' by 9' 4", the design being based on Whitemoor (North of March). There was a loco shed, a hump yard, using an old typewriter with wires attached to operate the points, plus two large marshalling holding yards - a small country station was along the back screen. The layout in this form lasted until 1999. The layout was re-erected in our present club and went out to it's only exhibition in November 2003.
Two years later it was reduced to 28', still retaining the name Marshmoor and now it's main line becoming DCC. Marshmoor has given many years of enjoyment to the members of IRMA and the public but it was decided that the time had come for it to go.It's final running was on the 28th June 2014 at the annual Transport and Model Festival.
Our new layout, Barham Junction, will take it's place and it is hoped that this layout will be ready for the club's November 2016 exhibition, coinciding with our 50th anniversary.
