Have you ever wondered...?
What it takes to produce a layout capable of going to an exhibition? The layouts we feature at our two shows are all produced by accredited builders. However, they all had to start somewhere, and we are looking to take layouts from beginner-builders who are considering showing for the first time.
What we need from you.
Details of what you have, or are planning to build. An idea of size, period in time, prototype, i.e. branch line, industrial, terminus, or whatever you have in mind. How easy is it to transport? How long does it take to set up or take down?
Deadlines.
We do insist, if you wish to attend our shows, that you honour set deadlines.
What we can help you with.
We can answer some of your questions regarding going to shows. Any new adventure is always a little bit daunting, and as many of our club have exhibited at shows across the UK, we have a wealth of experience in logistics planning, etc. We can't help with such items as wiring, or prototype research, because they are your decision, and yours alone. We are looking for layouts of all shapes and sizes for our 2010 and 2011 exhibitions. If you have a layout that is ready to be exhibited, in the construction stage or even the planning stage and you would like to premier it at our show, then we would like to know. Our show is well attended by other exhibition managers, too.
In order to help you every step of the way, we will send you an exhibitors pack. This will give you a clear map, a hall plan, contact numbers for use on the day. We understand the strain of a long journey and aim to ensure that on arrival the first thing we can greet you with is a cup of tea or coffee. We also pride ourselves on being there to assist you with carrying your layout from your vehicle into its display position if you wish.
A smooth running layout is a vital contribution to the success of any railway show. From experience, we know that badly rested operators have severe problems getting things to work. This is why we work hard to keep you accommodated if you require an overnight stay, and also well refreshed during the show.
If you feel that you would like to exhibit at any one of our shows then please contact the exhibition team at or fill in our information sheet that can be downloaded here
P. S. If you are an experienced exhibitor and you already have a layout, or are planning or building one, you can drop us a line too!
